SURGE | Postgraffism Artist

SURGE, born in Los Angeles and raised in Miami, Postgraffism artist, Surge, has taken his bold, unmistakable style straight from his sketchbooks to the sun-stained streets of South Florida and beyond.

Surge’s love for cartoons and brilliant colors, along with a passion for hip hop culture, has shaped his artistic identity and resulted in work that can now been seen everywhere from walls in Miami’s legendary Wynwood Arts District to live painting performances during some of the area’s most high-profile charitable events.  His vibrant illustrations feature anthropomorphized characters that are both brash and inviting.

Surge has served as a recurring cartoonist for the Miami New Times and his artwork has been featured on the cover of Sun-Sentinel’s City Link Magazine, as well as a variety of publications on a global basis.

It is the ability to be daring and free with his art that is ultimately closest to Surge’s heart. His work has toured the world as part of the “Sneaker Pimps Show,” has been a part of the “Sleepless Nights” art series and has also been displayed in various South Florida galleries during Art Basel.

His latest project, however, is turning his life-long passion into his full-time profession, establishing Thunderous Genius, a unique creative house that utilizes the brilliant collision of creativity and structure to develop graphics, branding, visual identities and original murals and art installations for any size client.

Utilizing his love for art and design to build a sustainable business is the challenge of a lifetime that Surge is enjoying like no other as he navigates through a client list that includes professional sports stars and teams, trendy Miami restaurants, lifestyle magazines and even the mom & pop shops that simply need a logo.
